Sail/Walk Portofino, The Cinque Terre & Portovenere

Just southeast of Genova, where the Appennine Mountains fall into the sea, lies one of the most beautiful and varied coastlines of the Mediterranean. From the exclusive yacht harbor of Portofino to the isolated fishing villages of the Cinque Terre, this is a spectacular and ideal hiking area. Lush woods with shoulder high fern lie just hundreds of yards distant from more arid pine forests. On steeper slopes, high above the sea, the vineyards, which produce the area's crisp white wine, stand in stark contrast to the blue waters below.

What better way to explore the Italian Riviera than to sail its azure waters aboard a luxurious 72 foot, fully crewed, private, motor-sailer complete with en-suite facilities. After a morning sail, drop anchor at these renowned ports for lunch and a little exploration. You may walk to the next village or reboard for an afternoon sail along the Mediterranean coast. A trip to the important defensive Roman town of Portovenere is highlighted by a guided boat tour of its famous grottos on the isle of Palmaria. Your return sail will find you in the lovely town of Sestri Levante with another night on board under the stars and another sumptuous feast created by your ship's chef. A final night in the five-star Grand Hotel Imperiale, perched above the shores of Santa Margherita will enable you to get your land legs back in style!
